Special Needs Support

The Center for Special Needs of  (JFCS) nurtures and supports individuals and families with special needs through a rich network of flexible services and programs designed to enhance access to needed care at any given point in their life, for as long as needed.   JFCS helps those with special needs function to their fullest capacity and to the greatest extent possible at home, in school, and in the community.  In addition, JFCS works to provide necessary social outlets and educational programming for those in the Philadelphia region.  

 JFCS’ Special Needs services help those with developmental or intellectual disabilities, from mild to profound.  More specifically this can include people with mental retardation, cognitive limitations, learning disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, social phobias/anxiety disorders, or Asperger’s Syndrome. 

Program Highlights

-   The Special Needs team has served 84 unduplicated clients in their socialization and skills building programs (Gam Yachad, The Network, Monday Night/SPICE) for adult clients.  In addition JFCS has provided a support group with 7 parents of adult children with special needs.
