Circle of Hands
Providing a hand-up through hands-on involvement

Purpose: To provide young members of the community with hands-on giving and volunteer opportunities in support of families who need financial assistance for basic needs or children's enrichment activities.
Members: 25-45 year-olds
Minimum Giving Level: No minimum gift required. Individuals become involved in volunteerism and philanthropy at their own comfort levels.

Ways to be Involved:
• Participate in hands-on volunteer activities in support of
JFCS clients.
• Participate in fundraisers to grow the Circle of Hands
fund.
• Provide individual support of the Circle of Hands funds.
• Participate in a group decision making process for
distribution of Circle of Hands funds.
Volunteer Activities:
Twice a year, family mitzvah projects are organized, i.e. a Challah bake for nursing home residents.
Fundraisers:
Twice a year, group fundraising events are held, i.e. a wine tasting.
Group Funding Process:
Two times per year, JFCS social workers present the group with grant proposals in support of families who need financial assistance for basic needs or children's enrichment opportunities. The group will prioritize the proposals and determine together which proposal(s) to fund. Anyone who participates in a group fundraising activity or contributes personally to the Circle of Hands fund is welcomed at the fund distribution meetings.
Criteria
The client's family income and needs are fully assessed by JFCS; the grant will provide basic needs, or an educational, recreational, or cultural opportunity for a child; and it will be paid directly to the vendor.
