The Bridge

a critical needs funding group

To provide financial assistance to low income clients suffering from a financial crisis due to the economy, illness, or other life changes, to ensure self-sufficiency and stability after the crisis.

Members:  Individuals and families

Minimum Giving: Level $1,800

Number of Members: 20

Voting Process: Two times per month, JFCS social workers vet and present cases to the group via email so that the group can vote and/or ask questions electronically within 48 hours in support or denial of the grant request.

Criteria: The client is Jewish; the income and needs are fully assessed by JFCS; the grant will stabilize the client; it will provide for basic needs above the maximum support available through JFCS' Critical Needs Fund; and it will be paid directly to the vendor.

Maximum Grant Amount: $1,000

Group Gatherings: An annual family mitzvah project is organized in support of JFCS clients. An annual dinner is held at a group member's home to review the year and evaluate the program.
