Child Welfare Services

The Child Welfare Department, under contract with the Department of Human Services of the City of Philadelphia and other counties, provides services that ensure and achieve safety, stability, permanency and well-being to children and families. Respecting the cultural diversity of the communities, our staff empowers children and families to achieve self sufficiency through in-home direct service, advocacy, and collaboration.
Program Highlights:
- Child Welfare served over 520 children and family members during the current fiscal year
- The program welcomed and certified 20 new kinship and foster parents since September
- 50 parents completed the first round of parenting classes. 55 parents are participating in one of 7 parenting classes that began in February.
- 15 adoptions were completed through SWAN and an additional 8 were completed in March, for a total of 23
