JFCS offers several group experiences to enhance Socilization, Healthy Relationships, and Independence.
• The Network - provides socialization opportunities with peers, skills development and community and cultural outings for adults with disabilities. Monthly groups offer a sense of community and support. Participants along with JFCS staff and volunteers travel to restaurants, shows, museums or simply socialize together
• Gam Yachad - adults celebrate the holidays together in a synagogue, thereby creating a sense of community. Family members can join in the holiday celebration or attend concurrent lectures or workshops
• SPICE - Social, Peer, Interaction, Community, Education – participants meet for five consecutive evening sessions in the fall and spring, to enhance life skills while making friends, learning and having fun
• Social Skills Groups and Healthy Relationships for Teens and Young Adults - individuals can practice and develop social skills in a supportive group environment while increasing their confidence about making connections to others. Participants are also taught appropriate behaviors as well as how to read social cues. In addition, appropriate communication and intimacy behaviors are taught that help improve social and sexual relationship skills of adults with special needs. Attendees are taught to recognize improper and potentially dangerous behavior
