BALA CYNWYD >>. Local residents were able to “Join the Conversation” with Jeffrey Toobin at a fundraising event held at The Barbara and Harvey Brodsky Enrichment Center of JFCS.

The high-profile senior analyst for CNN, critically acclaimed bestselling author, and staff writer for The New Yorker, brought a very candid look at politics, the law, and how these issues affect JFCS clients. He addressed why the gay wedding cake Supreme Court case is so important for the LGBTQ+ community as well as spoke about how the Affordable Healthcare Act relates to mental health.

Eighty-five attendees enjoyed an intimate dinner, stimulating conversation, and an opportunity to take a picture with Toobin.

“It is an important time to be at the forefront of social services, there is much to do. We are grateful that Mr. Toobin came to our Enrichment Center to shared his connection to Philadelphia and the Jewish community as well as how the politics of today will translate into tomorrow’s policies that impact our clients,” said JFCS President and CEO Paula Goldstein.

The effort helped to raise money for The Brodsky Enrichment Center programs that have been developed to address previously unmet JFCS client and community needs. These include cooking classes in the Weinberg Teaching Kitchen for Holocaust Survivors, therapeutic art classes for people living with disabilities, bereavement groups in the Schneider Support Group Living Room, and financial literacy workshops in the Wolgin Financial Empowerment Center.

JFCS will continue this tradition of hosting a national thought leader at future events.
